Free to Breathe - Greensboro 2008

A group of dedicated survivors, advocates and healthcare professionals formed the first National Lung Cancer Partnership chapter. They organized the Free to Breathe® 5K inaugural event in Raleigh in 2007 to raise awareness and research funding for lung cancer. The North Carolina chapter has now expanded the event series to the Triad area.

Race Location: Grandover Parkway
                      One Thousand Club Road
                      Greensboro, NC

Time: 7:00AM Registration begins
         9:00AM 1 mile family fun run/walk
         9:30AM 5K run/walk

Fees:
$20 pre-registration fee through November 1, 2008
$25 registration fee from November 2-15, 2008
$15 Cancer survivor registration fee

T-shirts are guaranteed for all those who pre-register by November 1. T-shirt sizes are based on availability. Organizers will attempt to match your t-shirt size request to their best availability.

Registration Deadlines:
Mail in registration will close Monday, November 10, 2008.
Online registration will close Wednesday, November 12, 2008.

Directions:
Grandover Parkway is conveniently located in the heart of the Triad, near Jamestown, approximately nine miles from downtown High Point and nine miles from downtown Greensboro. It is approximately 24 miles east of Winston-Salem, 75 miles west of Raleigh and 85 miles north of Charlotte. It is just off I-85 near the I-85 and Business 85 merge.

Race Course:
The race is run entirely on Grandover Parkway. It starts near ACC Lane and Grandover, proceeds west to the first cut-though past Club Road, then follows the eastbound side of Grandover to Groometown Rd. It then follows the westbound side of Grandover to finish near ACC Lane.

Packet Pickup:
Race registration and packet pickup will be from 5:00–9:00PM on Thursday, November 13 and Friday November 14. (Location TBA) Packets not picked up on Thursday or Friday will be available at the event on race day.

Additional Information:
A community rally will be held immediately following the 5K.

Team photos will be taken from 7:30–8:00AM.

A prize will be awarded to all individuals who raise more than $1,500 for National Lung Cancer Partnership. Fundraising pledge forms and directions to set up an online fundraising page are available under the Sign Up/Donate tab.

The event will occur rain or shine. Organizers reserve the right to cancel in extreme circumstances. In the event of extreme weather or other emergency circumstances, your registration fee will be applied as a donation to the National Lung Cancer Partnership.

Lung Cancer Ambassador:
Individuals donating or raising $1,000 will be designated as Lung Cancer Ambassadors and receive special recognition. Lung Cancer Ambassadors will be identified by a special t-shirt and will also be invited as guests to a special appreciation cocktail reception.
